Our Covenant with Bolivia
As a community of believers, we at First Baptist Church in Edmonton have covenanted in mission with the Baptist Union in Bolivia. We have become partners so that we can understand each other, and learn about how our faith journeys are lived out in vastly different contexts. This partnership calls us to be involved – to send people. We are committed to sending teams from our congregation to meet and encourage our fellow believers in Bolivia, to help each other grow in faith, love and service for our Lord.
In October 2007 First Baptist Church sent a small advance team to Bolivia to meet and establish relationships with our Bolivian brothers and sisters and to discover the needs of the churches in North Potosi. As FBC’s ambassadors to the Bolivian churches, the STEP teams have sought to encourage and forge a long term relationship with our Bolivian partners in ministry.
In October of 2008 (Oct. 9-24), FBC sent a team of 8. It was an amazing adventure filled with many stories of connection, encouragement and inspiration.
Our Call to Bolivia (in 2011)
A group of five people from our congregation will be in Bolivia from October 5-22, 2011. They will be helping in the work and life of the Church in North Potosi plus doing some work with chagas prevention in La Paz. However, their primary help will be in communicating by their presence that First Baptist in Edmonton wants to encourage our Bolivian Baptist brothers and sisters in Christ – – that we care enough to journey alongside them in faith and mission.
