STEP Bolivia
Our Covenant with Bolivia
As a community of believers, we at First Baptist Church in Edmonton have covenanted in mission with the Baptist Union in Bolivia. We are partnering so that we can understand each other, and learn about how our faith is lived out in vastly different contexts. This partnership calls us to be involved – to send people. We committed to sending one or more teams from our congregation to meet and encourage our fellow believers in Bolivia, to help each other grow in faith, love and service for our Lord.
In October 2007 First Baptist Church sent a small advance team to Bolivia to meet and establish relationships with our Bolivian brothers and sisters and to discover the needs of the churches in North Potosi. As FBC’s ambassadors to the Bolivian churches, the STEP team has sought to encourage and prepare the congregation for a long term relationship with them.
Our Call to Bolivia
A group of eight people from our congregation will be in Bolivia from October 9-24, 2008. They will be helping in the work and life of the Church in North Potosi, possibly helping them establish a leadership development centre. However, their primary help will be in communicating by their presence that First Baptist in Edmonton is with you, we care, we want to know you and be known by you – to briefly share in your life, struggles and joys.

Melba Montgomery – trained as a teacher and actor; Spanish language specialist; wife and mother of two
Bill Peake – team leader; former staff worker with Young Life Canada; independent contractor; husband and father of three
Sam Proskin – consultant in geological and ice engineering; husband and father of two
Colin Puchala – engineer; husband and father of three; member of FBC since 2002
Angela Stewart – writer and youth worker; momma of one
Brian Wirzba – physician; member of FBC since 1993; church clerk; husband and father of 3

Please continue to pray for our call to Bolivia as members of the team, their families and our colleagues in Bolivia undertake this collaborative ministry.
