Children at First
Children are a valuable part of our ministry here at First Baptist Edmonton. We have several places for children to get involved and be cared for. Children go to various programs after children’s time during the service. Children ages (6-12) come downstairs to hear stories from God’s word that follow our lectionary, through drama, puppets, skits or story tellers in a large group setting. They have opportunities to participate in a small group activities based on their interest where they can discuss what they think with people in their faith community here at First Baptist Church.
The first Sunday of each month children participate in outreach opportunities through our partnership with Bolivia and local opportunities such as the Edmonton Public School’s hot lunch program. Our babies are cared lovingly for by Ruby who is in our nursery faithfully each week to provide a secure and consistent person the children can trust. Our preschoolers follow the “God Loves Me” curriculum taught by loving and caring teachers in their classrooms.
Eleven or twelve year olds meet every third Friday night of the month for an activity and devotional. This is their opportunity to grow in their faith, take on some leadership and build relationships.
Our children participate in worship in various ways. Our worship services include our children in many ways. Whether participating in the liturgical experience, sharing during the time with the children or sharing their gifts and talents in other parts worship service our children are valued members in our worship experience. Our children also participate in special musical events.
